Mrs. Leah Lockett
My name is Leah Landers Lockett and I am the school counselor at Cherokee High School. You never have the same day twice when you work with students and I am so excited to be working with our students here at CHS! I work with students individually and in the classroom to teach them the skills they need to be successful. I also collaborate with parents, other counselors, teachers, and the administration to help support students and help them achieve their academic best.
I graduated from the University of North Alabama with a Bachelor’s Degree in English before attending Jacksonville State University where I received my Master’s Degree in Secondary Education. I taught middle grades English for 10 years before I decided to go back to the University of West Alabama and obtain my Master’s in School Counseling. I worked as a middle school counselor for 6 years before transitioning to high school in May of 2018. In June 2017, I graduated from UWA with my Educational Leadership certification. I have been at Cherokee since 2018 and I am proud and excited to be serving our students and school community. I love being a part of the Cherokee community and the Colbert County Schools family and will always try my best to do right by our amazing students and their families.
In my spare time, I love to travel, read, listen to music, and spend time with family and friends! My two daughters, Teagan and Tatum, and my husband, Jae, keep me busy at home and are the loves of my life.
Please do not hesitate to contact me for assistance with any questions or concerns you may have. I can be reached by phone at (256) 248-9050 ext. 3 or by email at llockett@colbertk12.org
I hope everyone has a wonderful school year!
