Colbert County High School is a rural school in Leighton, Alabama. Roughly 700 citizens reside in Leighton, AL and the size of the town is
approximately 640 acres. The school serves the communities of Ford City, Nitrate City, LaGrange and Spring Valley.  All of these
communities are a small part of what is otherwise known as the "Greater Shoals Area" that is made up of Florence, Muscle Shoals, Sheffield,
and Tuscumbia, serving approximately 398 students in grades 7-12.

We envision each student as an active lifelong learner always striving toward improvement. We envision each student having been provided a solid framework to continue to build and thrive throughout his or her adult life. 

Mission

The mission of Colbert County High School is to provide a curriculum that will prepare our students to meet the challenges of our ever changing society. 

Core Beliefs

• Students should acquire the basic skills necessary for the present and future in order that he or she develops to his or her fullest potential academically, vocationally, physically, morally, and socially.
• Opportunities to learn valid principles of self-evaluation and respect for himself or herself, as well as tolerance and understanding of others.
• The student will learn to be a responsible, fair, well-informed, and law abiding citizen, by precept and example.
• Students will be encouraged to participate in extracurricular and fine art programs to promote self-expression. His or her parent will be encouraged to offer input into curriculum needs and development.
• Develop leadership skills and be a responsible member of a team. Students should acquire technical knowledge, which will enhance his or her performance in a specialized field on or off campus. 
• To learn the value and satisfaction of employment and economic stability and responsibility.
