Diploma Selection Information

In the Colbert County School System, we offer all students an Alabama
High School Diploma. If your child would like to push themselves
academically, they can choose the Advanced Academic Endorsement.
Students must earn 26 credits, beginning in their 9 th grade year, in order
to graduate in addition to meeting several Alabama State Department
of Education’s requirements. Those requirements can be found on the
attached letter.
All diplomas require 4 credits of math, 4 credits of science, 4 credits of
social studies/history, and 4 credits of English, along with 1 credit of
Career Prep, 1 credit of PE, and ½ credit of health. In addition to these
required classes, your student will need 8 or 9 elective credits. Please
take a look at the pages following this brief introduction to see the
Alabama High School Diploma Comparison sheet and to review the
diploma options with your child and sign off on their choices.
ALL FORMS MUST BE RETURNED NO LATER THAN Friday, May 10. If
we do not have a form returned, we will place your child on the
standard diploma and choose their elective for them.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at 256-383-
